Moodle:
I decided to choose Moodle because it is a tool I have not used before. In addition, since the population in my class is very young, I thought this would be the best possible option for providing a guided on-line learning environment, which is easy to use. My students need very concrete and direct instructions on how to complete tasks. This course development tool appears to be the easiest way to present a concise and concrete virtual learning experience.
Using Moodle, I will create "Day" blocks, which the students will need to complete in order to go to the next "day". Each block will include links or projects the students will need to complete in order to receive credit for the day. Moodle will help me to ensure that all my students are completing the necessary components of the curriculum project. Basically, I will use Moodle to resemble a Webquest type of learning project. Each day, as the day before is completed, a new set of tasks will become available.
I like the part where you said that each block will include links or projects the students will need to complete in order to receive credit for the day. One of the major probelms my students face is that they feel overwhelmed with the assignments and time line. This think by having something concrete, it will give the students the chance to be successful
ReplyDeleteI like the fact that students will have to complete one day block before they can access the next block. It sounds like this will not only help students stay organized, but also make sure that they really understand the content before moving on.
ReplyDeleteI like how the day blocks are set up that seems like a great feature to keep students on task. I have used Moddle before and I am not a fan of their overall design because sometimes it can seem that there is too much going on.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great idea to make students complete one task before they are able to complete the next. This will keep students motivated and more on task than if they were able to navigate to multiple tasks at a time.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea for utilizing the site. My school has a math course where students complete modules before moving on, and I know it can get hectic with students at all types of places in the curriculum, but it creates a naturally differentiation between your different learners.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE this idea. I didn't really understand Moodle when I first watched the movie but I think I will have to give it a try. This would be great for students who are absent. It would be able to keep them on track and not make them feel so overwhelmed.
I really like you ideas and the way you use Moodle. This sounds like a great way to get everybody involved in the process.
