After browsing the GetEdFunding.com grant listings, I have decided that the grant that would best fit my idea is SCA Grants (Sony Corporation of America). This grant focuses on groups who demonstrate need as well as the area of education (and the strengthening of education).
This grant provides many opportunities for educational technology funding. My main idea behind this grant is to obtain a classroom set of tablets with literacy and math applications installed to improve the learning experience for the students in my classroom. Seeing as Sony is well known for its electronics, I thought this grant idea would mesh well with Sony's main manufacturing details.
The application process for this grant does not have a formal procedure, rather it begins with a written request proposal. The request should include a description of the institution requesting funds, history of support from Sony, amount being requested and a description of the purpose of the grant/funds. Once the initial request is received by Sony, additional information may be requested, or a letter of decline will be mailed.
This sounds like an interesting grant and I think it would be a great grant to bring technology into the classroom. Hopefully this will only be the first steps to technology use.
ReplyDeleteI think that is a good way to use grant money if accepted. Tablets and computing in and out of the classroom is a better choice for teaching students' as a whole. I think the main reason is because if adaptations need to be made they can be done with a couple clicks of a mouse. Anyways, I will be interested to see if your grant gets accepted.
ReplyDeleteThe reason for you grant, tablets, is the same reason I would apply for a grant! I think they are a great supplement to classroom, specifically one where students have disabilities. I like that your grant asks for some information and then make a preliminary decision to either decline you or ask for more information. It's really nice that you don't waste a lot of time do put together lots of information when you were never what they were looking for.
ReplyDeleteI think it is great that you plan to incorporate literacy as well as math applications into you grant proposal. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteI agree tablets are probably the way to go for this grant. I also liked how you are going to incorporate many different subject areas into your proposal. I wonder how many teachers will be doing that? Good luck with the process.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea. As an educator who uses iPads in the classroom on a daily bases, I can tell you they are worth the investment. I really hope you get the grant.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a great way to get some technology into your classroom. Being able to incorporate technology in your classroom in order to improve literacy and mathematics is great. Tablets will keep your students engaged and motivated along the way.
