Phonics Tic-Tac-Toe Interactive Game
Made by: Lakeshore
Review of Application:
This application provides students an opportunity to learn in a game format. Students can play in groups of 2 or more, as it is a 2 person game. Each player gets to answer a question on the tic-tac-toe board. If they get the question correct, their symbol shows up on the game board, if they get the question wrong, the question is still up for grabs. Students play until they get a tic-tac-toe (or 3 in a row). One issue with this application is that it does not read the questions and clues to the students. Often, I have found myself reading the questions for the students until they begin to associate the words. An additional downfall is that the questions repeat every 3 (or so) games. Overall, I really enjoy this app as it keeps the attention of my students, they enjoy playing the game (and even ask to play it!), and they are learning while having fun and being engaged! I would give this application 4 out of 5 stars due to the 2 downfalls I listed above.

I like that you have reviewed both the positive and negative aspects of the app. I think that a feature where the students could hear the word if they clicked on the image would really be beneficial. The fact that students can actually play it against one another would probably increase student motivation.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really interesting app. That's great that it gets the students engaged. I like that it provides the students with appropriate feedback when they get the question incorrect or correct.
DeleteI would have to agree this app looks like it would be a great tool and I also like how you have so many different screen captures which clearly represents the app very well. I do like that students can play against each other and learn at the same time. This app will most likely prove to be very beneficial.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the thorough review. Always helpful to actually know the downsides for an app and not just the positives about it. However, I must say that it looks like a great app to keep the engagement of your students while adding a little friendly competition to the classroom. I love finding new ways to include technology and some games in the classroom, and it usually results with the students being more interested and giving a greater effort.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great. My son always wants to play little games like this. For a young audience, this seems like a cool way of getting them to read and learn the basics.

ReplyDeleteI think this app is great. I also agree with everyone else about how you were able to incorporate the positive and negative aspects of the app itself. Looks like a great app. Good job
